Week 11 (Week of 22 April)
- Scores and statistics for midterm 2 are now available on this page.
- Regrades: If you find an error in grading, please post a private note to Piazza describing in detail the error you found. We will review your concern and regrade the entire exam in an attempt to eliminate the error you found, as well as any other grading errors. If you want your exam to be regraded, you must let us know by Friday, 26 April at 5pm.
- Meetings: If you are concerned about your performance on the midterm, or your performance in the class in general, please send me an e-mail (
hz@mit.edu
), and I will gladly meet with you to figure out a plan for improving as we move forward in the course.
Week 9 (Week of 8 Apr)

Midterm 2 will be offered on Thursday, 11 April, from 7:30-9:30pm in room 37-212.
- The exam will cover material up to and including software lab 9.
- You may not use any electronic devices (including calculators) during the exam, but you may make use of any paper materials you wish (hand-written or printed).
- Review materials are now available from this page, and have also been linked from the calendar below.
- A conflict exam will be offered in the morning on 12 April. If you have a
conflict, please let Adam know (
hz@mit.edu
) by this Friday (5 April), and we will get back to you with details. - We will hold an optional review session on Sunday (7 April) from 12:30-2pm in room 34-501, followed by our normal Sunday office hours.
- We will not have a design lab on Wednesday, 10 April. Rather, we will have the lab open as extra office hours during the usual design lab time (9:30am-12:30pm).
Week 7 (Week of 18 Mar)

Spring break is next week (25-29 March). As such, please note the following changes to 6.01's schedule:
- We will not be holding office hours on Sunday 24 March, Tuesday 26 March, or Thursday 28 March. Regular office hours schedule will resume on 31 March.
- The problem set for week 7 will come due on Tueday, 2 April (after the break).

Software lab 7 should be completed in partners, and there is a checkoff at the end of the lab.
Week 6 (Week of 11 Mar)

Midterm 1 will be offered on Tuesday, 12 March, from 7:30-9:30pm.

- The exam will cover material up to and including week 5.

- We will not have a lecture or software lab on 11 March. Rather, the lecture time will be used for an optional review session, and the software lab time will be available as extra optional office hours. Both the review session and the extra office hours will be held in 34-501.

Our final exam has been scheduled for Tuesday afternoon, 21 May, from 1:30-4:30pm in room 34-501.
Week 3 (Week of 18 Feb)
- Holiday: This coming Monday (18 Feb) is an Institute Holiday, which will affect 6.01's schedule as follows:
- We will not have our regular office hours on Sunday (17 Feb). Instead, we will have office hours 2-6pm on Monday (18 Feb).
- Week 2's homeworks will also come due on Monday (18 Feb) at 11pm, rather than on Sunday.
- Tuesday runs on a Monday schedule, so we will have Lecture and software lab on Tuesday.
- Tuesday night office hours on 19 Feb will run as normal (7-9pm).
- Piazza: We will be using Piazza for all course-related discussion this semester, and it is also a convenient way to ask for help from the course staff and your peers. You are not required to sign up on Piazza, but you may find it a convenient way to ask for help.
Week 1 (Week of 4 Feb)
- First Class Meeting: Our first class meeting will be a lab section this Wednesday (6 Feb), in 34-501 starting at 9:30am.
- Information, Policies, and Collaboration: You are responsible for familiarizing yourself with the course information and policies available from the links above, particularly those related to grading and collaboration. If you have any questions about any of the course policies, please post a question on Piazza!
- Prerequisites: 6.01 has 6.0001 or 6.145
as a prerequisite. The intention behind this prerequisite is to ensure
that all students have some amount of experience with programming (and,
particularly, with Python), so that you can get as much as possible out of the
later parts of the course.
- If you do not satisfy the prerequisite, but you have other prior programming
experience (even if not in Python), please e-mail

with a description of your background. - If you do not have prior programming experience, you may wish to switch to 6.0001 and take 6.01 in a future semester.

- Homework Assignments will be delivered through the web site. This week's homework exercises will release on Wednesday at 1pm. They will be available from a link below at that time, and they will come due on Sunday, 10 February, at 11pm. For the rest of the semester, homework exercises will be released on Monday mornings at 11am each week, and will come due on Sunday evenings at 11pm.
